Excursions
All classes go on excursions from the school to visit places or see things of educational interest. All such excursions proposed by teachers must meet with the Principal's approval.

In all cases, excursions must be part of the educational program for that grade. Parents are notified beforehand and written permission must be supplied by a parent or guardian before any pupil is permitted to leave the school for an excursion. Sometimes parents are invited to accompany groups and assist with supervision.

Any occasion when a class leaves the school grounds is considered an excursion.

Performance at School
From time to time worthwhile educational and entertainment items are presented at school at very low cost to the pupils. Without exception, these shows are approved by the Education Department and are chosen by the teachers as beneficial for the pupils.

Assemblies
Regular assemblies are held to enable grades, classes and staff to provide/share information to students, recognise effort and perform class items. A feature of these assemblies is the presentation of awards to students as a reward for good effort in class or as otherwise determined.

Special whole school or grade assemblies are also held to commemorate events such as Anzac Day, Arbor Day, School Student Councillor Presentations, Behaviour Awards etc. which enable the fostering of a school spirit.

School Sport
K - 2 The children in K - 2 classes take part in "Health Hustles", Dance and Gross Motor activities which help to improve the children's overall physical development as well as providing them with the basic skills for future ball games and gymnastics.

Not only do the children enjoy those activities, the teachers find that they are more alert and better able to concentrate on formal lessons afterwards.

3 - 6 Children in years 3 - 6 participate in skills based activities.

In addition we compete in the annual District Swimming, Athletics and Cross Country Carnivals and when appropriate, regular Friday interschool sport.

Selected players from team sports participate during the year in trials for the selection of District teams. Those children who are successful are eligible for possible later selection in Regional and State teams.

Appropriate sports uniform (described elsewhere) is expected to be worn by all pupils. Swimming lessons are offered to Year 2 and Years 3 - 6 pupils once a year. (Non-swimmers only).

Vacation Swimming Scheme
Each year parents are invited to apply for their children to be taught to swim in the scheme run by the Department of Sport and Recreation and Racing. Forms are distributed upon request during Term 4, for a series of lessons in the following January. There is a small charge for these lessons.
