School Entrance - Meeting Children
Children enter and exit the school at gates provided in
Tongarra Road and Hamilton Road. The Taylor Road exit is
only for those children catching buses.
Car Park
The car park is for the use of staff members
only. Children/parents are
not to walk through the car park when
entering or leaving the school grounds as this poses a
danger to the children and parents alike. The arrival and
departure of delivery vehicles at various times throughout
the day adds further to the safety concerns for children.
Traffic Lights/Crossing
Traffic lights are located in Tongarra Rd and Russell
Street. A children's pedestrian crossing is located in
Hamilton Road. This crossing is supervised daily by a
"lolly-pop" person. This supervision will occur both
morning and after school. Parents are requested and
encouraged to park in the R.S.L carpark for safety reasons.
Permission to Leave the School
School ends at 3.15 pm for all children in Yrs 1-6.
Kindergarten children will be dismissed at 2.45
until Friday 27th February. Then at 3.15 pm
for the remainder of the year.
If a change of normal procedure is planned for going home,
please send a note to the teacher.
When picking up children before 3.15 pm parents will be
required to collect a 'Sign Out' slip from the main office.
This slip is to be given to the class teacher when
collecting your child.
In the event of an emergency, and you are unable to collect
your child, please endeavour to contact the school.
"Unclaimed" children should be encouraged to go to the
executive on bus duty for help.
Security
Our school is very much a community school and the premises
are used by community groups. Although the incidence of
vandalism is quite low we would appreciate local residents
phoning the police without delay if they have reason to
suspect the actions of people in the school vicinity, out
of school hours.
Lost Property
This is a problem that is avoided if names are clearly
written or sewn on all belongings. Items that can be
identified by name are easily returned to their owners.
Unclaimed lost clothing is stored near the entrance in the
double storey building and outside classroom 17 in the
infants COLA for a reasonable period of time, after which
it is either used as emergency clothing or put in a Stewart
House bag for the next collection. Valuables should not be
worn or brought to school. It is unwise to give children
money that is in excess of their anticipated needs for each
school day. If such valuables are found they are sent to
the office for safe keeping until claimed.
Annual Report
Education Department Policy directs that all schools
prepare an Annual Report of the school's operations,
programs and achievements. This report is written by the
Principal on the recommendation of the "School Self
Evaluation Committee" which has representations of parents
and staff. The main purpose of this report is to supply
information about the school to the community which it
serves. A copy of this report will be made available to
each parent at the school and a public meeting is held to
discuss any aspects parents wish to seek clarification on.
