Travelling to and from School
Parental co-operation is sought in assisting us to attain
the highest standards of conduct in public. Parents are
asked to give their children periodic reminders of their
obligation in this matter.
Free Bus Travel
To be eligible for free bus travel to
school, pupils must be 4 years 9 months of age, or older.
Infants pupils attending Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2
are eligible irrespective of distance from home to school.
Pupils upon commencing Year 3 and who live 1.6 km or closer
to the school are no longer eligible for free bus
transport. Those children who are ineligible may travel on
the bus by paying a daily fare or by arrangement with the
bus company. The bus driver will inform individual pupils
of the fare payable. Parents of pupils who are eligible for
free transport should obtain an application form from the
school office about one week prior to commencement of bus
travel.
Conveyancing
Pupils who live beyond 1.6 km (radial distance) from
school, where there is no bus service operating, may be
conveyed by private car and the cost of the mileage claimed
from the Ministry of Transport. An application form should
be completed to be eligible for this subsidy. These forms
are available from the school office.
Bikes
Bike racks are provided at school for
children in years 3-6 who ride to school. Children who ride
to school are required to wear helmets and walk their bikes
into and out of the school grounds, along the footpath and
cross Tongarra Road at the traffic lights. The school is
unable to guarantee the security of any bikes on the
premises so children are encouraged to lock their bikes
securely to the racks.
